88km Gravel Grind

Individual or team of 4, riding together, starting and finishing at Watheroo.

Check-in from 12pm @ Watheroo Pavilion
Briefing: 12.45pm @ Watheroo Pavilion
Start time: At Watheroo approximately 1pm, Mass start with escort to (just before) Merewana Road where riders will determine there own pace for the rest of the course.

This is a European style event which is a more challenging route of 57km gravel and 31km bitumen.  You can challenge yourself as an individual rider, or enter as a team of 4 and ride the distance together, as a group, at the pace of the slowest rider. This ride will give a real sense of the wheatbelt - starting with plenty of big trees and lots of shade and moving on to wide, open spaces and great views. Training is recommended for this event. Plenty of drink stops along the way. Check out the route on map my ride via the Gravel Grinder facebook page.

Please note: 88km Gravel Grind is a different route, format and starting point to the 52km Gravel Grind and Grommet Grind.

52km Gravel Grind

Individual (age 16 and over) or team of 4 (age 12 and over), riding in relay-style, starting at Moora and finishing at Watheroo.

Check-in from 1pm @ Moora Sculptural Park
Briefing: 1.30pm @ Moora Sculptural Park
Start time: In Moora approximately 2pm, staggered start

This event is a fun ride, encouraging people to get on board as a team, but individuals are more than welcome. The teams are required to change riders at each pit stop, so will need a support vehicle (with flashing light) that comfortably holds 4 riders and a driver (or a rider may drive). The individual rider will not need a support vehicle and can bypass all the pit stops, unless they need to re-hydrate. You can have some fun with this event and give your "team a theme" and dress up for the occasion.
Note: Legs can be done in any order, but each rider must do 3 legs.

Great for families, corporate’s, friends or people first embarking on a new fitness program.

Individual riders: please contact gravel grinder committee  prior to the event if you need transport back to Moora or if you want to base yourself at Watheroo and need transport to Moora to begin event.

Please note: The 88km Gravel Grind is a different route, format and starting point to the 52km Gravel Grind and Grommet Grind.

15km Grommet Gravel Grind

Perfect for the “keen kid rider”!  Children can comfortably ride this event in a team, relay style of up to 4 kids plus an adult driver, (if possible the car will need a flashing light). They can use one or more bikes between them changing riders at each allocated check point. It is important to only swap riders at check points for the safety of the kids. See protocol page for more information.

Adults and children over age of 11 can comfortably ride this event as an individual. No support car is needed.

Kids are not encouraged to use a BMX bike, a bike with gears is preferred. Training or a good level of fitness is recommended for children doing this event due to the time factor.
Please don't hesitate to contact the GG team with any questions regarding the kids riding. We encourage everyone to have a go but need to consider safety of the cyclists. Age limits are in place to allow the kids to comfortably
